As an avid Anime viewer, I discover a lot of Anime of varying genres. Mushi-shi is the sage of nature, from a fantasy-entrenched perspective. In a different existence, there are life forms called Mushi, which are essentially the purest life forms, that live among people. Usually, they go undetected and do not disturb human beings. Occasionally, however, they sometimes can have negative effects, depending on what they require to survive. Some feed off light, while others feed off the gods themselves. Mushi-shi takes set in a considerable older period in Japan. Ginko, the main character, is a Mushi master, who travels around helping people with Mushi-related problems. Each episode tells the yarn of a different articulate created by Mushi and how Ginko solves the express. Unlike other Mushi masters, Ginko doesn’t simply resort to killing the Mushi, and instead finds ways for people to live with them.

Mushi-shi is not a series that employs action, suspense, character development, or a connected set. Instead, it uses heavenly artwork, appealing twists, and philosophical messages to remain an impressively unusual series. 26 episodes long, this series is long enough to have an fabulous diversity in stories told, and plenty of non-recurring characters. It also stays short enough to not overstay its welcome. Any longer, and the series would likely have lost it’s value as a series with vague and transparent continual state.

What Mushi-shi truly has going for it is it’s environmental beauty. Everything is calm and smooth, and the series has a determined air of mysticism to rival any Anime ever made. The Viridian Collection version has Both Japanese and English sing work (with English subtitles) and the special features are numerous and absorbing. Mushi-shi is by far my popular Anime ever made. Sight it if you desire a slower paced series focused more on philosophical virtues and less on action.

From Russia With Like, the second James Bond film, is one of the best (in my thought, second only to Goldfinger) . Unlike the later films in the series, From Russia With Appreciate is extremely faithful to the Ian Fleming new with only cramped variations on the legend. In order to gather a Russian decoding machine, 007 must recede to Istanbul, Turkey to assist a magnificent Russian defector … even though he and the British Secret Service know it’s probably a trap. But unbeknownst to Bond SPECTRE is playing the Russians and the British against each other. This is the most realistic of the Bond films with a fable that could probably happen in the genuine world of espionage. Terence Young, who also helmed Dr. No and Thunderball, does an outstanding job of directing. He makes extraordinary consume of the locations, especially in Istanbul. However, the best thing about the film is the casting. Young must have taken titanic care to properly cast From Russia With Treasure because every fragment matches their new counterpart down to the last detail. Sean Connery, of course, is, and always will be, the best James Bond. Newcomer Daniela Bianchi is terrific as pseudo defector Tatiana Romanova. She is sparkling, sexy and inviting. It’s too awful she didn’t have more of a camouflage career. Lotte Lenya (Threepenny Opera), the well-known German musical star, does a amazing villainous turn as Rosa Klebb, conventional SMERSH agent who is now working for SPECTRE. Robert Shaw (A Man for all Seasons, Dismal Sunday, Jaws) is chilling as SPECTRE assassin Red Grant. And Pedro Armendariz, in the performance of his career, plays Ali Karim Bey, the head of Dwelling T, Turkey. Aremedariz’s performance is especially poignant because he was dying of cancer during the filming. He shot himself while in the hospital soon after he was through filming.

From Russia With Admire is not only a respectable Bond film, but a worthy film alone, apart from the series. Along with Dr. No and Goldfinger, From Russia With Admire represents a high point that the later films never quite matched.

The DVD transfer is spectacular, with terrific sound and represent quality. What makes the DVD special, however, are the special features which include three documentaries, trailers, TV and radio spots and cast & crew profiles. The main documentary is especially sharp as it details how the filmmakers drastically changed the memoir progression during the shoot. As with all of the Bond DVD’s, MGM has done a apt job, giving the buyer worthy, distinguished more than unbiased the film to opinion.

Bonds advance and go, but “From Russia With Care For” (1963) is a cover classic in its have proper. This is the ONLY single disc release that is not being included on the Complete Season box sets being released by the same company. All of the 2-hour specials, etc. being released individually are also included on the box sets, but this pilot episode is not. So, if you are a Petite House completist, acquire this disc to add to your box space collection.

I grew up watching the repeats of “Slight House On The Prairie” on TBS however I have never seen the pilot movie. I don’t contemplate it was build into syndication? “Itsy-bitsy House On The Prairie” premiered years before I was born, suffice it to say it has been one of my current television shows because it is a rare combination of both entertainment and family values. Also included in this movie is a very touching Christmas scene (that was repeated in subsequent “flashback” “Diminutive House” episodes) where the Ingallses celebrate their first Christmas in their modern home. Mr. Edwards even plays Santa by surprising the entire family with his cheer and gifts.

Keep in mind that this is not dwelling in the town of Walnut Grove (where the TV series took spot) . In the pilot movie they lived in a different space which was even more remote with no town and no neighbors to shriek of (except the Native Americans who help the Ingallses) .

Tragedy strikes when their log house catches on fire. I notion it would all be burned down, however they were blessed with a splendid rainstorm which saved their home and barn.

Since Miller helped write the screenplay and one of his sons produced or coproduced the movie, it shouldn’t be a shock that the movie is so faithful to the recent text where it needs to be and broadens the memoir where it needs to, as well. Miller knows how to write for the stage, and he apparently knows how to write for the conceal, also. After seeing so many “classic” books and/or plays butchered by Hollywood, this movie is a genuine delight, despite its morbid and all-too-realistic record. This movie has become an famous to my Grade 11 American Literature classes, spectacularly complementing their reading of Miller’s play and several pieces from the Salem Witch Trial era.

Ignoring the play’s historic flaws and inaccuracies (that’s another debate for another time), Miller brilliantly captured the essence of the Salem Witch Trials in his play and has conveyed them to the veil. Hatred, scare, jealousy, hypocrisy, religious mania, attention-seeking, conviction, strength, determination, repentance, and a host of other emotions and character traits are vividly brought to life by a advantageous cast: Daniel Day-Lewis is a titanic John Proctor (nobody else could have done better), Winona Ryder is very excellent as the conniving and bitter Abigail Williams, Joan Allen was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Elizabeth Proctor, and Paul Scofield should have won an Oscar for his cold-hearted portrayal of Justice Danforth. The conflict between Proctor and Danforth is what sustains the play’s momentum for the second and third acts (about the last hour and fifteen minutes of the movie), and Lewis and Scofield bring that memoir conflict to life: the classic helpful v. detestable, with the sides getting somewhat mixed up as to who is who. . . . Lewis plays the flawed hero to Scofield’s self-righteous and vindictive villain with palpable energy. How Scofield’s performance was overlooked by the Academy is fair another example of their oblivion. He gives me the willies with his methodical, calculating delivery of Miller’s chilling dialogue: “Who weeps for these weeps for corruption” (among a bunch of colossal lines from the play/movie) .

This isn’t simply a play enacted in front of movie cameras (like Death of a Salesman) . The director uses his camera very effectively, capturing some vast close-up moments, new perspectives and camera angles, and bringing a sense of “bigness” to the whole chronicle. The play can seem very isolated, with its sparse sets and black-and-white costumes. Miller also expands the movie to launch well before the play does (giving the movie-goer information that he must have assumed the play-reader would already have) and extending it beyond the conviction of Proctor to include his execution, along with that of Rebecca Nurse and Martha Corey. Unprejudiced as a side notice, each of those three was hanged in a separate group in the recent trials–great symbolism from Miller, including each larger modern group of victims in the final trio. Also gargantuan symbolism in Proctor’s Christ-like physical placement in the middle of the two “sinners,” as he takes their sins upon him–the crucifixion is represented very effectively.

Bottom line: You won’t explore a better adaptation of a play to movie anytime soon. Nothing vital is left out, and some nice details are brought in to give the movie a distinction from its unique source, the play. If you can beget it through this play and not be outraged by the injustice and hypocrisy, then you have a heart as chilly as Danforth’s. What Miller would likely want you to do is apply that outrage to similar situations that go on every day, unbiased as he intended with his current play (the McCarthy hearings, the “Red” Horror) . Of course, I’m being a bit amusing with my opening to this review, but the reality is that this is a film that will touch you on every imaginable level if you can earn past the era in which the fable takes situation and the hysteria of that time period. Rehashing the position is a kill at this point as almost every student in America has read this play in their 11th grade English class, but this myth is as relevant today as the day it was written and the time in which the memoir takes station.

Arthur Miller wrote this anecdote as an indictment against McCarthism and although that time has past we serene have similar witch hunts today and, sadly, always will. 1970’s had us pointing fingers, thanks to Anita Bryant, anyone we view might be a closet homosexual. The 1980’s had us pointing fingers at anyone who had more wealth than we did (worthy like in “The Crucible”) . The 1990’s had us pointing fingers at family members based on so-called “recovered memories” of sexual abuse (later proven to psychological hogwash, but a clever diagram to find aid at and smear the name of a family member we didn’t like) . And this century has us pointing fingers at anyone Middle Eastern as a terrorist. I bewitch immediately after 9/11 our leading law enforcement official, John Ashcroft, going on national television and warning us to be on the scrutinize out for “those that don’t belong.” To me, that was government sanctioned racism at its worst. Like Lewis, her final scenes are unforgettable. You simply can’t inch away from this film the same person you were before you saw it. It is truly that inspiring. All the supporting cast members are familiar faces and all do an outstanding job, especially Winona Ryder in what is probably the best performance of her young career.

her character’s obsessive and selfish desire to have the one man she can’t sets the ball in motion in this narrative and she, sadly, has no proper regrets. She is conflicted in shimmering that her actions are basically putrid, but that they are unexcited somehow justifiable. Ryder truly captures the soul, or lack thereof, of this character. She is incredible here.

The screenplay is adapted by Miller who wrote the play itself and makes the shift from play to camouflage seamlessly. The direction is confident and appropriately claustrophobic. He allows his actors do their thing without heavy handed influence. The gather is terrific and stirring, and the cinematography has almost a documentary feel to it.

Rent or purchase this unusual masterpiece; it is estimable of your attention.

One last effect. So many know this memoir, but, surprisingly, few seem to adequately understand it’s title. I idea the below might be helpful:

When I first saw the title of this movie, I was intrigued. I wasn’t looking for a movie about France, but any movie title with the word Provence has my attention. When I saw it was a TV comedy, I belief it might be a nice few hours run. I also imagined it might have some Provence countryside and local flair.

This movie starts out very slowly, so you have to be patient. In fact, I wasn’t clear I had keep in the just tape to commence with, but soon I figured out what the movie was about. Peter (an advertising executive) and his wife who settle to conclude their jobs in England and unprejudiced hurry off to southern France. After buying a quaint farmhouse in Provence, they try to resolve into the monotonous paced country life. This is a very laid aid movie, and that is perhaps its charm.

You will laugh out loud in some scenes as Peter is pulled along with a pig hunting for truffles. There is a “truffle mystery theme” running through the movie. The humor in this made-for-TV romantic comedy is dry English humor, which I quite devour. This is really more of a comedy, than a romance. Perhaps the romance is that a couple is trying to earn their dream and they stick together through the honorable and the terrible.

What I loved was that Peter was a writer and he is always trying to enact his unusual. His wife helps him on a writing assignment about Provence and that is when things turn more into a mystery.

There is a edifying dose of the “French language” in this movie, but you always know what the actors are saying because Peter and his wife let you know. The cultural misunderstandings are very comic, but trying in a contrivance. Annie and Peter do attempt to fit in and learn as considerable French as they can.

When they experience the worthy and the unpleasant, it is then they enjoy France all the more. The “mistral” winds (strong winds) rep them off guard as they never imagined they would have to deal with a freezing chilly environment. When the pipes freeze and they are expecting company, they demolish up starting a kitchen renovation, which takes forever to complete.

To top it all off, people preserve dropping in unexpectedly and examine to be entertained. A Year in Provence is a thoroughly delicious, witty, droll series starring the unhurried John Thaw (Inspector Morse, Kavanagh QC), who sadly died of throat cancer in 2002. The series is based on the real-life experiences of Peter Mayle and his wife who left their jobs and lives in England to disappear to the south of France. Mayle’s arrangement was to determine in this idyllic corner of paradise to write a novel; what resulted was a myth which served as the basis for this exquisite series.

Beginning in winter, the series covers the Mayles’ first year in Provence and dramatises the many trials and tribulations they faced in adjusting to the local customs and peculiarities (like goat racing and truffle hunting) and to their recent environment. There were the gale-force winter winds (“les Mistrals”) to contend with; added to that, the magnificent, rustic old-fashioned farmhouse they bought came complete (alas) with inadequate insulation, frozen water pipes, and no central heating! While the laid-back, slothful lifestyle may have been an attraction when the Mayles were in England, they soon learn it has its drawbacks when it comes to getting anything done–like the much-needed repairs and renovations by the builders! Then there’s the joy of animated visitors from wait on home, the pleasure of which is somewhat dimmed when they score they’ve inadvertently overlapped the visits of three couples.

The series has been presented in a boxed residence of four 90-minute episodes–one for each season from Winter through Autumn. Each episode is broken down into three 30-minute parts–one for each month of the season. Though we chose to peek the series in its 90-minute blocks, one could easily leer it in half-hour blocks if one preferred.

In conclusion, I highly, highly recommend this toothsome series to anyone who enjoys British entertainment in general. I’m extremely ecstatic I took a chance on this dwelling as it’s been a series our whole family has really enjoyed watching (and one we spy forward to watching again in the not-too-distant future) . I might objective mention (in case it’s not sure!) that one ought not to request any heavy drama or an action-packed, intricately plotted series here. This is simply not that kind of display. In fact, I’d have to say that really belongs in a genre all its contain. It is a nice trim, relaxing reveal with no sex, violence or abominable language–just a plethora of spirited and often hilarious incidents space against the pastoral backdrop of the pretty Provencal landscape. Honest perfect (in my notion) for unwinding at the slay of the day!

I got the modern Archie’s Funhouse dvds in the mail today from Amazon (I had them sent overnight) …and they do feature the first appearance of Sabrina The Teenage Witch on TV as she has her first day at Riverdale! The first appearance of Sabrina is on the bonus TV special “Archie & His Fresh Pals” which is on the third dvd in the spot. Also included on the third disc are bonus Funhouse epsodes which were originally on “The Archie Comedy Hour” and they also feature a few guest appearances by Sabrina & her aunts & Salem The Cat!! The other two dvds in the place feature the regular Funhouse episodes which were basically silly silliness with Archie & the gang but lots of FUN!!They also include Jukebox which is a selection of music videos by The Archies including the music video of the Archies hit “Sugar Sugar” which ALSO featured Sabrina in the music video running a kissing booth and performing all sorts of natty magic on the guys as the song “Sugar Sugar” plays!I worship this area and I cant wait until they release “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” next month on DVD!! Its something I have been waiting a long time for.The characterize quality on this spot as it was on the last Archie spot released last year is really marvelous. Im very satisfied with it. Also there is a documentry with the scream of The Archies included on the third dvd in the situation as well….Steal it up!! If you loved Archie cartoons in the 70’s or Sabrina The Teenage Witch cartoons in the 70’s I believe you will like these!!!

What I failed to remember was that each year “The Archies” shows changed a lot. I was hoping to come by some cartoons that maintained a sage. Or even I enjoyed the year when Archie had Dick Tracy, Broom Hilda and other cartoons on. This particular season had neither. It was basically Laugh-In with the Archie characters. While these shrimp skits that appear may of been laughable at the time…today they appear as a bunch of dated short gags. I played the first episode for my daughter and even she lost interest before one episode was done. I wish I would picked the volume with Archie on the camouflage or even the Sabrina edition. Previous reviewers give the 5 stars and I write this review to give you a different thought point. What you derive here that may be a plus to some is you regain more music from the Archies….myself I wanted the cartoons. This was a consume I regret making even at less that $20.

Everyone who has ever taken high school English classes will no doubt be familiar with Harper Lee’s time honored anecdote. As is mentioned in the accompanying DVD, Fearfull Symmetry, it is second only to the Bible in the hearts and minds of U.S. readers. This is probably also the most often-shown film in said classrooms. No need to reshash the story-line, then.

We learn the scenes that Horton Foote, the screenwriter added from the book to arrive character development (the scene showing Atticus putting Scout to bed and her questioning Jim about their mother as Atticus overhears them from the porch, was not in the book, for instance) . We derive to hear from Elmer Bernstein talk about the genesis of his unforgettable soundtrack. Like so many teachers, I’ve mature the VHS version of “To End A Mockingbird” to enlighten the Elements of Literature to high school students.

Today, the internet has a wealth of resources to abet teachers and students using this classic adaptation of Harper Lee’s unusual. Some people may fetch the film too long, some may be offended by the negative portrayal of U.S. Army soldiers and some may be offended by the negative portrayal of Pawnee tribespeople. Unfortuneately, none of Costner’s works following “Dances with Wolves” have been as generous. Films that Costner only starred in such as “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” (1991), “A Perfect World” (1993) and “Wyatt Earp” (1994) were entertaining; but films that he both starred in and directed were box office disasters: “Waterworld” (1995) and “The Postman” (1997) . Perhaps his next directorial work (that he also stars in) will be better: “Commence Range”, slated for release in May, 2003.

No movie before or since has gotten to me the design “Dances With Wolves” has (it would have been even better if some guy in the theater hadn’t blurted out the climax: “Hey, this is the fraction where…” UGH!) . Though not without its flaws (the opinion of a white cavalry officer deserting to join a Sioux Indian tribe–and then actually succeeding–is a bit of a stretch in the historical context) the movie is so agreeable that you don’t care! This is what movie magic is all about, the suspension of disbelief, and Costner is a master here. The photography is breathtaking, the acting outstanding, and the musical gain…well, I mediate it speaks for itself (Quick-witted!) .

The fight scenes in Original Police Memoir are righteous, but nothing to write home about. Tse, though obviously a talented martial artist, looks far too diminutive and wiry to actually land a execrable blow to anyone. Also rather noticeable is that though the film strives to be more serious in tone, Chan and his fight team seemingly cannot speed the fact that their fight scenes are unexcited exactly the same–not really brutal and often filled with Chan’s trademark funny and awkward exchanges of blows. At the waste of the film the guy from Tsui Hark’s suitable film Time and Tide has a brief cameo. It’s a lawful shame that he didn’t play Chan’s sidekick, rather than the twerpy Nicholas Tse. All-in-all, Recent Police Memoir IS a top-notch action film though, and is definitely worth owning, ESPECIALLY if you’ve only seen Chan’s crappy American films.
